About us

Your pregnancy is a journey.
At Bump we'll be with you,
every step of the way.

Your pregnancy is a journey, whether you’re looking forward to having your first baby or it’s something you’ve experienced before. As with any successful journey, it runs smoother if you’re prepared, supported and empowered to make the choices that are right for you and your family.

The partners of the new Birmingham and Solihull United Maternity and Newborn Partnership (Bump), are united in their vision:

‘To deliver a consistent world class holistic service that empowers women and families to make informed choices, enabling them to access high quality care from a range of providers that is most suited to their personal choice and clinical need.’

For the first time, Bump brings together the services in Birmingham and Solihull responsible for supporting and caring for both you, and your baby, throughout your pregnancy journey. We are working together to ensure that it’s not only easier for you to access high-quality care, but that you are also able to choose the services most suited to your needs.

Bump includes the maternity services provided by Birmingham Women’s Hospital and Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, which are responsible for welcoming more 18,000 babies to the world each year.

With choices including homebirth, home-from-home birth centre settings and delivery suites in three hospital locations; where your baby is born is an important choice for you and your family to make.

Before you make your decision you need to know more about the options you have, your own clinical need and the health of your baby. Our dedicated teams will be able to help you every step of the way so when the time comes you will have the birth that is best for you and your baby.

We’re also working with a number of other partners which will provide specialist services to help you during your pregnancy, including Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust, Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Birmingham City Council and Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.

By April 2018 we’ll be introducing:

  • A single point of access for all maternity referrals making sure you have access to the right care from day one, through your dedicated community midwife;

  • Dedicated Community hubs – bringing midwifery and specialist care to convenient locations and;

  • A host of additional services, including online antenatal courses and much more…

It really is all about you, so we want to hear about how we can personalise your maternity experience – offering you more choice, while continuing to provide safe care.
